1. Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic. (1-No Knowledge at all, 2-Very Little Knowledge, 3-Some knowledge, 4-A good amount of knowledge, 5-I knew all about this)
> 3. I have had some experience gathering data, but not with a GPS. I did ecology research and collected data for 3 straight months, so I knew how to work with a team.
2. Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic:
> 4. The class struggled as a whole when it came to data collection and leadership. Had I been able to do more, I would have.
3. Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn?
> I believe that hands on learning is the best type of learning. I learned more about data collection by going out in the field nearly blind, than I would have sitting in a lecture.
4.What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?
>More instruction the day before would be great. Maybe, not an assigned reading, but like a "hey check this out, this is professional data and this is how they did it" type thing.
Activity 4
1. Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic. (1-No Knowledge at all, 2-Very Little Knowledge, 3-Some knowledge, 4-A good amount of knowledge, 5-I knew all about this)
> 3. The concept was simple, but relatively new.
2. Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic:
> 4. After doing all the work, I feel confident that if I had to do this again, I could get very precise and very good data.
3. Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn?
> Hands on is always the best, being able to see the area made the data sheet make more sense.
4.What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?
> More sandboxes. The lab just went too slowly, and the pressure of time was heavy.
Activity 5
1. Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic. (1-No Knowledge at all, 2-Very Little Knowledge, 3-Some knowledge, 4-A good amount of knowledge, 5-I knew all about this)
> 3. I had done interpolation many times in GIS II class the year previous, but that was a year ago so i just had to remember how to do everything.
2. Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic:
> 5. Interpolation is second nature now.
3. Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn?
> Seeing the sandbox again a week later on the computer screen, nearly how it looked before was cool. Very memorable.
4.What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?
> Nothing. I think this lab is the epitome of taking elevation data and manipulating it.
Activity 6
1. Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic. (1-No Knowledge at all, 2-Very Little Knowledge, 3-Some knowledge, 4-A good amount of knowledge, 5-I knew all about this)
>2. I had never done this before, but I had heard the terms before. Most of this was new to me.
2. Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic:
> 4. I didn't really get the opportunity to do much with this lab since my leg was broken. But I did get to identify trees. I'm familiar with the concept and how it works.
3. Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn?
> Let's just say that if i learned this in a lecture, I wouldn't even be able to tell you how to do anything azimuth related.
4.What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?
> Maybe if there were more tools to use so we could have more than 3 groups. Also doing this before the leaves fall would be great so we could identify trees more easily and make sure we are sampling live trees.
Activity 7
1. Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic. (1-No Knowledge at all, 2-Very Little Knowledge, 3-Some knowledge, 4-A good amount of knowledge, 5-I knew all about this)
> 4. I am an outdoorsman. I got super hyped when I found out we got to navigate around the priory with just a map and compass.
2. Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic:
> 5. I may not be more comfortable navigating. But I am now confident doing all the ArcMap stuff for this assignment.
3. Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn?
> Super fun and a great way to teach everyone how to navigate.
4.What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?
> Maybe an assigned reading before had to help people and give them tips on how to navigate better. But for the ArcMap stuff, everything was very straight forward.
Activity 8
1. Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic. (1-No Knowledge at all, 2-Very Little Knowledge, 3-Some knowledge, 4-A good amount of knowledge, 5-I knew all about this)
> 3. I knew all about portable weather stations and stuff, but never had i used the ArcCollector before so that was all new.
2. Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic:
> 5. I am a pro with ArcCollector now.
3. Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn?
> ArcCollector is the coolest thing ever. Without going out and doing it, I would be totally lost on it. Amazing lab.
4.What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?
> Nothing, we got plenty instruction on what to do.
Activity 9, Individual ArcCollector Project
1. Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic. (1-No Knowledge at all, 2-Very Little Knowledge, 3-Some knowledge, 4-A good amount of knowledge, 5-I knew all about this)
> ArcCollector, 5.
> ArcMap Domains, 3. This assignment challenged me to go back into what I learned over a year ago to make the domains and the map.
2. Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic:
> 4. I am confident, but I would still use ESRI Help for some things.
3. Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn?
> Bingo. Great assignment to hone the ArcCollector skills.
4.What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?
> There was good instruction for an individual project. But it was hard to come up with a question to answer.
Grassy Knoll Survey
1. Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic. (1-No Knowledge at all, 2-Very Little Knowledge, 3-Some knowledge, 4-A good amount of knowledge, 5-I knew all about this)
> 3. I had used GPS units before, but not that kind.
2. Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic:
> 5. I get it now, easy to catch on.
3. Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn?
> Absolutely, learning the nitty-gritty of a GPS unit in a classroom would be too boring to pay attention to. Learning out in the cold and rain was still better.
4.What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?
> More data points for the interpolation afterwards. That way the DEMs would be more accurate.
Intro to Pix4D
1. Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic. (1-No Knowledge at all, 2-Very Little Knowledge, 3-Some knowledge, 4-A good amount of knowledge, 5-I knew all about this)
> 1. I was going in blind, but it wasn't so bad.
2. Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic:
> 3. What I did was straight forward and easy, but there is so much more to learn and that will probably be more challenging.
3. Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn?
> If I had to learn about this by reading and not having the software right in front of me to mess around, I would have been so lost.
4.What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?
> Nothing really, it was straight forward. Follow the leader at the beginning, then experiment and read.
